I was absolutely delighted and felt greatly honoured when, a few days ago, I received confirmation from the London School of Economics and Political Science that I had been offered a Senior Visiting Fellowship. I accepted immediately. Already I have been to claim my library card.
It is a School appointment for three years. During my time I will be attached to the Department of Media and Communications where, among many inestimable scholars, resides Professor Sonia Livingstone, one of the world’s leading authorities on the uses of digital technology by children and young people.
I am extremely grateful to and would like to thank those at the School who must have supported my appointment. I only hope, coming from outside of academe, I can repay their confidence and contribute something of value to the Department’s and the School’s work.
With the LSE’s unrivalled facilities I have a golden opportunity to pursue a research project pretty much of my own choosing. I have a few ideas I have been toying with but if anyone reading this has a suggestion they would like me to consider please get in touch.
